Nene rejects move to Olympiakos because of Greek crisis

(Anderson Luiz de Carvalho) Nene was just a whisker away from signing for Olympiakos but financial turmoil in Greece changed his mind

The Brazilian reached a preliminary agreement with Olympiakos but got cold feet as Greece came just a hair away from leaving the Eurozone and reaching financial disaster.
He understands that the Piraeus club does have money but finds it hard to believe that the crisis will still not affect the team.
The 34-year-old said: "There are many things that are not clear.
"I know Greece is under a big crisis and Europe expects developments.
"It's better to wait and so I decided not to sign for Olympiakos."
Olympiakos' chief talent scout Juanjo Lorenzo told Marca that the team's transfer targets are reluctant to move to Greece.
He said they tried to convince players that the situation is the same as last year but the picture abroad looks much worse than reality.
He added: "If the situation continues then things will get much harder for us becuase players will ask for more money to move in or they will choose not to come and play in Greece."
The winger joined West Ham last February until the end of the campaign where he played a mere eight matches and scored no goals.
The Hammers were not convinced to keep him at Upton Park and so the former Paris St-Germain player is still looking for his next destination.
